Home Sweet Home

This was the day that we were going to leave the states. Almost 3 months of stay. Ya, and it definitely struck us with gush of emotions. We slept so little the night before due to the last minute packing and also because, we wanted to get up early to buy krispy kreme back to s'pore. The nearest kk store is the one at amtrak(one of their train stations). We got to walk all the way from our hotel to amtrak and back. It's anything but near.

This was taken from our hotel room's window. One last look before we headed back.

We paid 55usd for a 45mins ride to airport. Talk about cabs being expensive in s'pore. It's nth in comparison. Haha. Shi went to make a call to her parents so left me and qian entertaining ourselves.

Hehe. You look at qian. So happy when she's reading the tabloid magazine. Look at her when i asked her to do sudoku. LOL. So funny!

Another funny qian!

Making our way to the boarding gate. Look at our bags of KK! There were 3 bags, so 9 boxes and thus, 54 donuts -.-"

Time to go in! The baggage checking ang mohs were damn funny. One guy asked us to leave our donuts there and we were like HUH. Then, he said next time we should get more donuts and gave them some for breakfast. Ha.

After a 17 hours long flight, we got to transit at bangkok airport. A 3-hour long wait before the plane back to s'pore. Self-entertain again. Play bridge!

My Tang poems playing cards. People always got very distracted by my playing cards. Haha. They will always start concentrating on reciting the poems rather than playing the game. That's my hand! See how tanned it was at that time. Keke.

Now back to serious work. Very serious work. Deciding who to blog on what. LOL.

Finally, back in s'pore. Shi thrashed all of us with her amount of luggages. haha.

Compare the 3 of us before and after the US trip. Basically there's not much change in us except obviously, we were at least 2 shades darker after the trip.

We miss the big apple!

Last day in New York

Ooo... I am so sorry for mia-ing for sooo long. Anyway I'm back with more updates of New York. This was our last day stay in NYC so we decided to make it a lazy one. The first stop for the day and a must-go place - New York Public Library.

The last time when we came, the library was closed! But luckily, we still have time for it on the last day. The place is gorgeous! It is so pretty that we were all marvelling over it. Anyone watched 'Day after tomorrow'? This is the library!!

Magnificant entrance to the library.

FYI, this lionhead is a water-cooler!

The second level. I told qian that I love this pic of her. It's very yi shu, especially when coupled with the motion on the left side.

How did we take this pic? Did we put our camera on the bench opposite us??

Take a little peep inside.

Inside the lib! We felt kinda pai seh when taking this cos the ppl around us were all mugging!

Guess who we met there...

Yes! How small can NYC be! Fabio, Xinting and Fangfang again!

A final photo before we parted.

Then, we decided to walked around SOHO. NYC is really small man. We met this bunch of ppl from NTU too! Actually this is the second time that we met them coincidentally. I think just a day or two ago, we saw them at a subway station. So qiao!

After which, we went to the Grand Central Station. A popular place for movie setting too.

Busy busy grand central. I think this is exactly a scene in 'Magdagascar'. It just looked so damn familiar.

Another of qian's yi shu pic. I snapped this secretly when I was totally amused at her fetish for perfect photos. If you are wondering what she was doing, she was trying to take a picture.

Shi got yi shu photo too!

We were so tired after plenty of photo-taking and decided to just nua at one of the cafes. Ya, this one with a very nice table top.

There's one place that you have to go when you are in NYC. That will be their Hard Rock Cafe. because that's the authentic HRC! Anyway their HRC is always packed. They are also very hish-tech. They used this electronic board to show everybody's reservations and a computer system to assign seats. Amazing. As usual, we took more pictures while waiting for our table.

*drums roll* presenting.. the 3 golden flowers... wahahahaha. we posed as if it was a beauty pageant.

Actually the food there is the same as what we have here in S'pore HRC.

Say cheese after a sinful and fulfilling meal!

pirates of wildwood!

i shall update bigapple while ting is on hibernation for god-knows-what reasons. LoL~

during our early days in morey's piers, when Adventure Pier is still not fully opened to guests, we're often sent to mariner's landing (the largest pier in morey's) to help out.

mariner's supervisors trained the lot of us on the pirates of wildwood ride cuz that ride's operators all happened to fail to turn up for work somehow.

unlike all other rides that we operate, there's costumes for this! all of us got so excited over the costumes, we were stuck in the dressing room for a long time, taking photos. hehe~

baby's so pro at posing sia. haha~

it's such a pity none of us brought our digicams that day. had to rely on my lousy VGA cellphone camera.

pirates of wildwood is a water boat ride with no plunges, a pirate-themed haunted house. there'll be popups inside to scare u, and a pirate aka ride operator will be stationed inside as "live actor".

all of us had to take turns to be the live actor, cuz seriously nobody likes to be inside that bloody spooky and dark place.

us with the masks we've chosen for ourselves (live actors have to wear masks when scaring guests). again, baby has the best expression. baby, u win u win. LoL~

what live actors do is to scare the guests, basically. most of the time the guests just laugh at us, however. bah~

that's how the inside of the ride looks like, taken from my "scare location".

i dislike being in there. the mask stinks, the job is boring, cant play games on my handphone cuz guests will see, the place is too spooky to sleep, and supervisors often feign as guests to check on the live actor. bleahz~

it's so much better being the loading and unloading operator outside. just press 2 simple buttons, and there's lights, pretty decoration, plus guests who always praise our costumes.

anyways, we hate working @ mariner's. the supervisors there only care about whether we're performing our work, and there's this stifling feeling of being watched. too strict, not fun at all. AP's wayyyy better.

our ever-so-obliging and people-oriented manager at AP knows how we felt towards mariner's, and always avoid sending us there. so in fact, we only went there a few times lah. *phew*

lastly, another photo of the adorable pirates!

hee~

okay i'm done filling up the gap, let's hope ting is back from hibernation. hmmm.

polar bear, once again

remember the cute polar bear at central park zoo? the one who just kept swimming to and fro the same place repeatedly?

there it is, doing just what i said it's doing.

so brainlessly bo liao lahz. i was very much amused by this bear's aimless yet very consistent actions, so dumb. haha~

is everyone in the polar family like that?? LoL~

New York Pass - Day 2 (Part 2)

Third stop: Lincoln Center

Esplanade's counterpart in the West. Ha. The Lincoln Center is a performing arts center that showcases opera, ballet, theatre and etc. It's really a very beautiful place, especially the main entrance to the concert halls. Too bad, no photography allowed.

The Metropolitan Opera House was under renovation when we were there. Not too sure whether the renovations are done. Although I never heard of this before, as far as I know this is a world-renowed opera house.

Group photo after the tour!

Fourth stop: CNN

We didn't go for the CNN tour actually cos by the time we got there, the last tour had already finished. Sad lorz. But the CNN tour will probably be about the same as the NBC tour.

Qian and Anastas were somewhere busy taking pictures so me and Shi were terribly bored while waiting for them. We then decided to take pictures of ourselves too. Haha.

Being the ever-so-friendly american, there was this lady who insisted on helping us with photo taking. Haha, hence ta-dah..the following photo.

Last stop: Empire State Building (again!)

Why are we going back to Empire again?? 3 reasons. 1) We heard from Andrew & co that the night view is fantastic. 2) This is the only place that we could visit at night using our new york pass. 3) Being accountants, cannot lu-gee. Must maximise the use of the new york pass. Wahahaha.

The night view is really awesome. But all our amateur cameras can't really capture the scenery well. Oh, and the world is sooo small that we actually met Fang Fang, Xinting and Fabio at Empire!! We were so excited when we saw each other and go ahhhing and ohhing.

Final stop: Home

The 4 of us were so damn tired after 2 hectic days of sight-seeing that we decided to end the day off early and go back to our hotel to play Monopoly. Hehe. Shi bought a set of monopoly there. Its the 70th anniversary limited edition and it was ultra duper cheap!

Later in the night, we went to Port Authority Terminal to send Anastas off. I wondered if he had really enjoyed himself these 2 days. I hope he did.
